Favorite Photos from High School Prom

5.17.2013

Today's post is from the Blog Every Day in May challenge (that I have not been doing- oops).

This photo is from my senior prom. We were at a friend's house taking pictures. When my mom first saw the picture, she just thought my dress was really poofy. Really I'm just kicking my foot up in the air ('cause we were all laughing and having a good time right before the 'snap').

My dress was absolutely gorgeous. It was a short dress that was tight (just a simple black dress) that had all of this tulle poofy stuff around it. Was awesome. Not many girls wear black to prom. It was my goal. Ian and I look so classy! But anyway. This is one of my favorite photos because of all the memories it brings back. We really did have a great night!

I'll just go ahead and throw in some more pics for you to enjoy!

Me and my best friend! Her mom made our corsages. Having a fake corsage was awesome because a) I still have it, and b) mine was black with rhinestones. HOW COOL IS THAT? Ignore my awkward hands.

Ian was giving me his famous grouchy "I hate taking pictures" look. I was laughing at him. <3

We took so many pictures like this. We were making fun of the 'typical high school girl' poses. You know the ones.

Happy Birthday, Punk!

5.16.2013

Hello! I've been missing from the blogging world internet for the past few days. I have been doing a whole lot of nothing (cleaning, playing Sims, starting my new job, learning Spanish, etc.). I just stopped by to embarrass my little brother for a few minutes. It's his 15th birthday! I'm somewhat overwhelmed by that, but I do love being his older sister. Please enjoy the few photos I have provided as his birthday embarrassment. :)

Soccer celebrations!
This has always been my favorite picture of us. Isn't he so adorable?!
Having too much fun at Claire's. I actually think he bought the pink ones.

On a completely unrelated note to my little bro...

I mentioned above that I have been studying some Spanish! This website called Duolingo has a few languages you can learn (English, Spanish, German, French, Italian) for FREE! I tried it out (very skeptical- my dad and I have been trying to learn for years), and boy was I surprised. I have never learned spanish vocabulary so quickly! I tried to connect my Twitter so I could 'befriend' everyone on their, but it's glitching. I'd figure I would just mention it here. If you've been wanting to learn some basic Spanish (or French or whatever), then check Duolingo out. I've been on for a few days, and I'm already hooked! (i was not compensated at all for saying this. i just think it's a cool program.)

Update on My Thoughts

5.10.2013

Oops! I haven't blogged since Wednesday. I'm kinda falling behind on the Blog Every Day in May challenge. I'm not even going to do today's prompt, but that's okay. Here's a list of what's going on in my mind.

I really want to own a business. I'm only 19, but I want to own a boutique. I'm currently working on an online shop that is focused on pre-worn clothing. I'm actually considering making it a regular boutique and have the 'pre-loved' section on Ebay.

I went to the Canton Flea Market  with my mom yesterday afternoon. It's something we usually plan weeks in advance and get up in the wee hours in the morning for. Not yesterday! We decided to just drive over there (about half an hour's drive) to get some yummy lunch. We shopped a bit (bought some cute earrings!) and got a lot of boutique ideas. We didn't stay long, just an hour or so, and then we headed back home. Cute anecdote: I lost $9 when we were about to start walking back to the car. I was so devastated  that was my yard sale money! :P Once back to the car, there was a $10 bill on the ground. Business Jesus gave me a profit.
Thousands of people attend CFM every year! I love it, and it has always been a mother/daughter tradition in my family. (seriously. My mom's sister took my grandma!)

I got a job as a substitute at a local daycare. If someone calls in, I'll get the call to cover! Yesterday morning I went and 'shadowed' a few teachers to see which age group I liked best. I only spent a few minutes in each classroom, but fell in love instantly. In the one year old classroom, I was amazed at how quickly they cleaned up their messes when threatened with their recess time. Seriously. The blocks were off the floor in thirty seconds. I didn't get a chance to visit the two year olds (they were on the playground), but the 3's looked to be so much fun! I walked in and they were dancing to a song about peanut butter & jelly. How cute! Next was the four year olds. I caught them at art time, so they were very calm for the most part. There was actually a substitute in there for the day, so she was telling me about her transition into the job (something I'll be doing next week). Last (but my favorite!) was the infant room. Ages 6 weeks to 6 months- plump and cuddly. I got to feed a little boy, I believe he was about 5 months. He was absolutely adorable and just kept staring at me with his huge eyes. He was probably concerned that a new adult was in the room. I was so sad that I had to go. The director's assistant asked me which age group I enjoyed, and I think that's when I realized infants! I was upset that I had to leave. Shadowing was fun. Now I get to sit by my phone and wait to be called in. :P

I won't be on my blog tomorrow. I'm going to yard sales in the morning, and when I'm done there, Ian and I are going back to my college town to go through our apartment. I'm having a huge yard sale at his house (along with his sisters), and I know there's a lot of stuff at my apartment that needs to be cleaned out. So we are taking a mini trip up there. Also, even if we are working and cleaning, it will be nice to spend some alone time with him. <3

Last, but certainly not least, is Sunday! It's Mother's Day, and this year we are planning on doing something awesome. The plan is to go to the Vicksburg miltary park and have a picnic. (I'm even gonna make a cheesecake!) After that, we will visit a few museums (there's even a small Coca-cola one) before heading home in the evening. It was actually mama's suggestion, so I hope all goes well.

I know this post is long, but I'll be absent this weekend. At least now you know where I will be! Of course, I'll still be active on instagram. ;)
